Olivia is Celebrating

On February 18th, eat a scoop or two of ice cream for breakfast to celebrate with Olivia, because kids get cancer too.

Olivia is an extremely creative and enjoys making art. She loves ice cream and she can’t wait to eat it for breakfast again this year.

When she was 10 months old, she suddenly was unable to sit up or crawl. Her pediatrician sent her to a Children’s Hospital, where she was diagnosed with a neuroblastoma tumor. It was compressing her spinal cord. She had surgery to take the pressure off her spine, and within a few days was back to crawling and sitting up.  She had two more surgeries to remove her tumor and many other tests.

She also had physical and occupational therapy to help her overcome the weakness caused by the tumor pressing on her spinal cord. She may eventually need treatment for the curvature of her spine caused by her surgery. Her doctor at Seattle Children’s is keeping an eye on it.

Cancer is a beast even when its beaten – so we support and celebrate with sweet Olivia.
